HANDS FREE PhagiaFlex ISO-CTAR Device

229.00

Our hands free device easily slides onto an adjustable height table, for use with the CTAR and JOAR exercises.

Instructions for the Hands Free ISO CTAR Device

Pull the flexible, padded table grip apart slightly so that it will easily slide over the edge of the table. Slide it all the way onto the table, and then stop pulling it apart so that it will grip the table firmly.

Place the table so that the chin pad of the Hands Free ISO CTAR Device reaches the patient's chin, just behind the chin bone. Note: To fit under some chairs or wheel chairs, you may need to place the device on the end of the table instead of the long side.

Move the table a few inches away from the patient and elevate the adjustable height table so that the chin pad is 2-4 inches higher than the level of his chin when he is in the chin elevated position, so that the device will be slightly flexed to provide the desired level of resistance when the chin is tucked down.

Press the chin pad down and slide it under the patient's chin. Place his arms or feet on the table to keep it still and steady.

1.) Chin Tuck Against Resistance - CTAR: Tell the patient to nod his head slowly up and down against the resistance of the flexible ISO CTAR Device.

2.) Chin Tuck Against Resistance and Hold - CTAR Hold: Tell the patient to nod his head slowly down against the resistance of the flexible ISO CTAR Device and hold this position until he feels the muscles in his throat burning from fatigue, like you would in your arms when lifting weights.

3.) Jaw Opening Against Resistance - JOAR: Tell the patient to nod his head down and hold his head in this position while he slowly presses his jaw down to open his mouth as widely as possible. Tell him to be sure to keep his head still while his mouth opens so that only his jaw is moving. Open and close the mouth slowly until the muscles of the throat burn with fatigue.

4.) Jaw Opening Against Resistance and Hold - JOAR Hold: Begin the JOAR exercise, but hold in the mouth open position until the muscles of the throat burn with fatigue.
